might not be as valuable as an elite SS who hits for power but that only matters if you have a perfect team filled with well above average players everywhere. a guy with 70 power who can actually hit is exciting even as a poor defensive 3b.

how many guys in baseball right now can hit 40 home runs
I included pitchers since he said top 10 prospects which could be pitchers or hitters. There are tons of guys who hit 30 the year before. You have guys like Morrison, Smoak, Duda, Aguilar, Yonder, Thames and a few others that just pop up and hit 30 in a given year.

Unless you have a legit stud hitter at 1B, it's a position that you don't really commit to long term and can get away with stop gaps because guys are just sitting out there with a track record of at least doing it before.

Me personally, I could name 30 players I would take before the first 1B comes off the board. Goldy is getting up there in age and had a brutal start last year that makes you pause, and Freeman has battled wrist issues. If I could guarantee the Freeman who OPS' over 1.000 when healthy is what I am getting, then yeah.

Corner bat first players have such little room for margin.

I don’t get who the padres were bidding with

Would anyone given him more than 3/60? Even that would be an overpay

I'd definitely put Freeman, Votto, and Goldy into Top 20 position players. I'm not going to list them all but I doubt you can find twenty more impactful players, positional value be damned

Klaw had Mets as 14th best farm in baseball, said they would’ve been top 10 if not for trades

So Brodie dropped us at least 5 spots in rank to make sure we got fill-in pieces, two old infidels, and a huge contract obligation.

We'll see if he is so this year. Relievers are fickle.
