I wish I could have faith in this team right now. It seems like we have our hands full with the likes of the Tigers and Marlins. I have a bad feeling that by the end of that stretch, the only threads we're going to see on here will be "fire Mickey", "fire BVW", "get rid of Cano/Frazier", etc.

Well, we got Conforto back, who else do we need back besides McNeil? Nimmo was doing jack shit anyway.

Cano needs to be part of the mix for this season to work.

Because the Mets misdiagnosed him and let him play with a potential career altering injury?

You're probably right at that. I probably lost faith in Cano prematurely, could use another lefty bat in there.

Yes on the one hand, the power from that area of the lineup is crucial. But if we can find it in either Conforto or Davis... we're ok there. We need grinding at bats and the kind of skilled bat that made him what he is. It seems to be a circle with him. Can't get the hits and has to fill in parts of his game (hustle) that he's not used to...and then gets hurt.

Kind of dislike players not being able to go full tilt. But in his case, I really think he should be a 60%-40% bench player. Not an everyday but when he's in there... he's got to be 100% sharp and ready to play hard.

I'd rather see McNeil - Davis in most lineups. I think JD is doing like what we hoped from Cano.

A big part of this next 3rd of the season is going to be about putting out your best possible players at all times...not those paid the most.... something that has beleaguered this team for decades now.

This is the stretch that will be the nail in the coffin.

Of course, they've got to be played, and anything's possible, but barring playing above themselves, I'd be happy with 17-21. That would mean that they' have 43 wins after game 90. Doesn't sound too good to me, but that's what I'm looking at. Then, I have to tell you, I'd be happy with a .500 season, which means playing 4 games above .500 for the remaining 72 games.
Who knows? Maybe they surprise to the upside. I certainly hope so, but I've been watching this team since '63, and in earnest since '64, so my hopes have always been tempered by reality.
Still, there's always hope, until there isn't! :)
