most obvious signing in the history of signings.

poor yankee fans don't want manny machado. we would throw a parade if we showed a hint of interest in him.

Gonna be the ultimate underdog story

Yankee fans don’t want him and he’ll win over their hearts with a great postseason performance next fall. It’s too poetic not to happen.

Yankees win two rings with machado and Stanton and then trade Stanton to The cardinals (or he opts out) and then they sign trout

If we could sign Machado, Jeff McNeil would be more than fine in the OF! And later in the year we'd get Cespedes back. If he regained his form, we could potentially have quite a lineup.

I'm under no illusion that it will happen btw.

Machado makes sense and addresses Third Base perfectly.
He’d be our biggest signing since Carlos Beltran.

C: Ramos
1B: Alonso
2B: Cano
3B: Machado
SS: Rosario

What an infield.

We get it. They are cheap bastards

It’s starting to get fucking annoying now. It’s not like they are going to change.

It's not starting to get annoying- what's starting to get annoying is the bullshit narrative we're fed every offseason with vagueries like "oh, Brodie has room to spend", "we're going for it", "you'll have to ask the GM", which all end up back at the same place- austerity.

If people just stopped talking about it, it would be a cue to the Wilpons that nobody gives a fuck and they can just continue operating status quo. The only thing we as fans can do is continue to browbeat them.

Are you going to root for the Mets in 2020? 2021? 2022 and so on? Would you like for them to have more than a cursory chance to win a World Series if everything breaks right?

If your answer is yes for both, and I suspect it is, it's not beating a dead horse. If they can't spend the kind of money required to obtain a 26 year old FA, one of the top 10 position players in the game, when they have almost no long-term commitments beyond 2020, 7 of their top 8 pitchers, their SS, and two top OFs are making peanuts, there's little hope they'll ever spend the necessary amount to make this team a sustained contender.

Um, well yea, that's the point.

They aren't going to spend so bitching about them not spending is like beating a dead horse.

And you think they will change based on tweets or message board bitchings?

"Well then fans should stop showing up until they spend $$"

as if they havent shown that attendance going down will lead to even lower payroll

Maybe people like to enjoy the game, without the constant bitching about payroll
