Philippines born Tebow is all you need to know. This guy is and has always been a Filipino spy.

And has played immeasurably less baseball than those other prospects in the last 7.6 years.

Trying to evaluate Tebow like a traditional prospect is pointless. Just enjoy the show and see where it goes.

If it wasn't so early in the morning, I'd be rolling on the floor laughing at you calling Tim Tebow a prospect. He's a show for the Mets, Tebow and their minor league affiliates to make money.

I am enjoying the show. Tebow is great for listless baseball, who can't create marketable players if their life depended on it. At least, this soon to be 30-something is getting non-baseball fans to pay attention. The game has great players, some even marketable (Like Thor) but fail to market the game. This sideshow is bringing people to the game. Next week, I scout Columbia/Rome. My fiance and her parents are coming to one of the games just to see Tebow. I don't think her parents have attended a baseball game in 20 to 25 years but Tebow has got them wanting to see the game again. It's going to suck working Columbia/Rome (probably bc I'll need to jockey for a seat) but I'd rather see people giving a shit about baseball than not.

I argued these points to a few baseball purest scouts in the media booth in Chattanooga. The old-timers don't get it. The younger guys do. I hope baseball takes this Tebow show and runs with it like it should. Also, the must learn from it too. It's time to create media stars. The game will die without stars.

Where did I call him a prospect? I said you CAN'T evaluate him like a traditional prospect. Thus, things like his age compared to his competition are neither here nor there. Don't be so judgy. ;)

He is a show, like you said. But I do also think he's legitimately serious about this. It's not just a show to him. So I'm willing to give him some benefit of the doubt in looking at whatever progress he makes in the months / years ahead.

I'm with you -- I think it's great for the Mets and great for baseball. And a bigger Tebow fan you will not find than me. I love everything about him, couldn't be rooting harder for him to succeed.

Tebow this afternoon, weather permitting. He has a scheduled time with the media. If I get there in time, I'll ask him his thoughts on Desmond Lindsay, Merendy Gonzalez and Colin Holderman.

3 for 4 outing today, with a triple, believe he's 9 for his last 20.

All of a sudden his batting line is up to .246/.310/.415 (.725)

Just saying.

It's unfathomable to me that every person in America doesn't know who Mike Trout is, yet utter the name tim tebow and BOOM.

Trout is going to end up (barring injury) top 15 in MLB WAR. Easily.

Mike Trout is basically Willie Mays 2.0, and yet completely unmarketable because he's so damn boring from a personality standpoint. It's incredible.

good point. jeter is the definition of boring. kris bryant is boring. i'm not sure how many baseball players would qualify as not boring.

Sure, Jeter was boring, but it's also the era. Late 90's you wanted your clean cut handsome guy who never said anything offensive, the Jordan model if you will. Jeter played that perfectly.

In 2017, it's basically the social media era of marketing. You need to be relevant both on and off the field to be at that next level today. Bryant has his Bryzzo stuff that's basically become an ad campaign for MLB. Noah Syndergaard has a great twitter presence. Bryce Harper has multiple ad campaigns around him. Mike Trout is irrelevant in that way. Would anyone even recognize him on the street outside of his uniform? Maybe he doesn't want that spotlight, but people like Thor and Harper and Bryant are way more marketable and have proven it.
