I keep telling you guys, the Mets have nothing to do with this.

This is the organization that handles the whole thing.

http://www.combatwoundedveteransofamerica.org/

I am not gonna make their lives miserable and get them involved in something that they had nothing to do with, nor any had any ability to control.

Everyone I've dealt with is an ex-vet volunteer. I'm not dragging them into this.

Well do the 8PM game and just live with the fact that it is what it is.

It is definitely a shitty situation. No disagreement there. But to act like flexing the game is some travesty is a little much, and anyone with half a brain might have foreseen that a late season Sunday game might get flexed to the Sunday night spot, especially given that both teams were projected to be competitors this year.

Make the best of a bad situation, and honor your dad with your family before the game. Those that can attend, attend. Those that can't, still get to enjoy the family time beforehand. Swapping with someone else is also really out of the question?

The only thing I disagree with is that you're making it all about you, as you usually do.

My dad called the veteran org today to ask if they could do anything for us, which is way better than me doing it anyway.

Dollars to donuts says the only option would be to wait until next season, if that is even an option.

I am certainly more pissed off than he is, which I guess is a good thing.

Maybe pick a Saturday night game next year.

Honestly looking at schedule, dodgers vs Mets was a likely choice for Sunday night game. Played each other in playoffs in '15, two large markets that were both supposed to be good. Dodgers may be best team in game, etc.

Momo, you're an illiterate. The quote below does not say your dad doesn't deserve an honor. I don't know shit about your dad. He could be the greatest hero of all time. He could have been a mechanic at Fort Bragg. I have no clue. What I know is he's a veteran so he deserves respect. Unfortunately, for you, my statement says, what it actually says, which is no veteran is entitled to (not deserved of) a ceremony at Citifield. It's good of the team to do something so commendable, but it is not required. Your father and any veteran deserves any honors bestowed upon them, they just can't demand they are entitled to them. It is up to the rest of society to honor vets as much as possible. My point is many vets never get more than a thanks. You sent some emails and waited some time and now your dad gets a possible national recognition or at least a very public one in front of thousands. Stop acting like that is not great. Many vets, I'm sure some mor edeserved than yours, don't get the ceremony. Stop acting like you are entitled to more. Vets deserve the world from us, but are not entitled to it. So get off your cry baby high horse and enjoy the opportunity.

"You, your sister and your dad are not entitled to any of this. Neither are any other vets who may be even more deserving. The Mets don't need to do these honors at all. You take it as some entitled right. You have been given (for nothing) an opportunity of great value and you're bitching."
