honestly, I doubt anyone on this forum knows shit about the mlb draft. too unpredictable and soooo much scouting. It's not like the NBA or NFL draft where everything is condensed.

Who knows what is going to happen around pick 73 or whatever we have? We will find out once it happens, sometimes you even get a Brad Holt type pick who barely has a scouting report that anybody outside the industry knows.

I think it will be that one guy, he was pretty good in college, but had some issues. Or it could be that other guy. From that East Coast college.

When they tell you 15-20, they mean 25-30 or later.

How much will it take? What did he ask for?

I don't know about "all this talk," but I remember either Law or Goldstein saying they think the Mets "might" go over slot for a player. It was like, one throwaway comment somewhere.

but as much as whateverulike is probably spot on about the mets and signability guys early, it's not like they've never taken a pick in an early round that dropped to them because of signability and didn't agree to a contract until the deadline was nearly up

one of them is starting for us in two days

im not sure what his number is, but knowing him and his fam i doubt w.e it is they offer he'd take. Smart kid and will mostlikely want to finish college. Would be a pr dream for the mets tho in a few yrs as he is from the binghamton area, and would cause pretty much all of the b mets home games to sell out

You're assuming that the Mets will select him and that in 3, 4 or 5 years later when he gets to AA, the people of Binghamton will remember him and he'll sell out the games there?

Based on that information, I say if the Mets are interested, they'll offer him $20 to $25K in the 32nd round, with tuition money via the MLB plan to cover the cost of a 4 year education at St Johns.

Yes I think the people will remember, we havent ever had anyone come up through any sport really. Jim Johnson, orioles, got coverage all the time, as he is from the area too...

AA teams don't usually really have much to advertise about or get people to come out to the games that much, but if you have a hometown boy playing on the team, tons more people will go to the games.

Kid is really athletic, only problem is he has a bit of an injury history, had a stress fracture in his back this season, sprained his ankle during the basketball season
