He's started his career 0-10.

No Met has ever started his career 0-11.

Mickey needs to put him into some tie games so he can get the team record career for losses without a win.

MLB record is 0-16 (and that guy retired without ever getting a win).

Sewald already has the mlb record for most games pitched at the start of a career without a win.

0-11

If you have to suck, might as well suck epically.

Mickey needs to put him into every tie game to help the tank and get him a piece of history.

Because they're not all that worried about him accruing service time?

I hope he catches on with some team (not the Mets) next year.

0-17 career is within reach.

He got a win yesterday! (after blowing a hold, of course)

Fortunately it doesn't count. His streak is still alive.

I know Sewald set up the massive collapse that Edwin Diaz completed on Tuesday night. But until Tuesday, he'd actually put together a pretty decent season: 14.1 IP over just 10 appearances, so he'd had several multi-inning outings (5 of them), and had never allowed more than one earned run in an outing (and 6 of his 10 outings were clean).

He's far from a lockdown reliever, but pretty much what you want for a mid-innings guy, and with a 6 run lead, I think it was very reasonable for Mickey to assume he could safely manage to get 3 outs, resting Lugo a bit and not pushing him further after a 25 minute break.

He pulled Sewald at the right time, and once again what killed the Mets was Avilan giving up a ground ball that went through the hole; a little off to either side and it could have been a GIDP.

Going to Diaz the XBH machine at that point was the awful mistake. Bases already loaded, one out, and a 4 run lead? When every win matters more than ever? And you want that guy on the mound? This season?

Career W-L = 0-14

The all-time mlb record for losses to start a career before getting a win is 0-16.

So no one from like the 1879 Cleveland Spiders had a longer losing streak?

This is indeed impressive

Especially since he's appeared in 115 games and thrown 116.2 IP as a reliever, over parts of three seasons

He does have 3 career saves though. (To 6 blown saves.)

And, with absolutely no relevance whatsoever except I happened to notice this tidbit on his BBR page, his middle name is Stanton.

There have been longer losing streaks (see:Anthony Young) but to start your career 0-16 has only been done by one guy. And he retired without a W
