Default The Big Comeback Starts!

The Mets are currently the 7th worst team in MLB. Now they’ll

- make a couple of trades for which they’ll get no value (but which will allow ownership to shed some payroll), and
- play better so that they won’t draft in the top 7 next year (but of course not enough better to have any shot at playoffs)

They even suck at sucking.

I predict they finish well enough to pick in the 12-15 range.

Also, doubt they shed any payroll. Instead, they "reload" for next year 'cause

Shed all guys who are leaving at the end of the season

Wheeler
Vargas
Frazier

So ownership saves 2 months of salaries

Todd Frazier doesn't make a nice catch with a man on in the 9th we probably lose that game.

Robbie heating up Justin time to make the draft pick worse, but the off-season ticket sales higher!

Can’t you just hear the bullshit now: “if you extrapolate from his second half, and ......, they could be pretty damned good!”

“If we can just take our second half form and play like that the whole year, watch out”

What I see is a team that is coming together for a special run lead by the Great Robinson Cano who is on fire and clicking on all cylinders. In the playoffs Cano will be the kryptonite to teams like the Braves, Dodgers, Cubs, Brewers etc and in the World Series will destroy the Yankees or Twins or Redsox or Astros. Hopefully none of these teams realize this and acquire him from us! Don't anyone tell them.

I knew it would happen as our schedule was brutal and we've been massacred by good teams all season. The schedule is much easier in the second half and we'll probably end up around 75-81 wins as that's what we are. A slightly/moderately below .500 to .500 team.

I was actually a little disappointed today. These days, I tune in mainly to try to see good games by deGrom, Alonso, and McNeil and don't care whether the team wins.

At least Cano earned about .001% of what we owe him today.

Just a friendly reminder that we are only 6 games in back of the Phillies and therefore 6 games back of the wild card.

Now I can go to SF to see what remains of this team before the deadline. I plan on hearing lots of chatter about Bumgarner being dealt to the Yankees.

And there's 8 NL teams between us and the Phillies

Right? I mean why do those pesky schedule makers insist that we play so many games
against teams that are better than us??
