I didn't say he has any. I'm just criticizing the YouTube video. It has like 3 bad calls and a bunch of somewhat underwhelming calls.

Personally I dislike Buck, stemming from 2006. But when you make a video compilation of someone's worst calls, I expect something a little more drastic.

The only ones I had a problem with are the ones where crazy shit is going on like you never see, and he's basically ignoring it.
For a guy calling the caliber of games he does (eg World Series and Superbowls), he’s likely the worst in both MLB and NFL history. If you disagree, name a play-by-play guy from a World Series or Super Bowl worse than him.

Yes how is it a question. Sports is entertainment. Listening to Joe Buck ruins the game for me (as it has for around a decade or more).

Umpires who ruin the integrity of the game isn't entertainment either.

Angel Hernandez ruins actual baseball games.

Joe Buck ruins some people's experience watching baseball games.

Come the fuck on now

Instant replay play fixes his miscues though. There’s nothing to fix Joe Buck’s blandness.

Way better.

Buck is dry like toast. Zero passion in his calls.
I'm not a Buck fan, to be clear. But in fairness, there's some context you're overlooking here in comparing a radio call with a TV call. They're not the same thing, and they inherently require different approaches.

A radio announcer has to paint the entire picture for the fan, who can't see anything. The fan is entirely reliant on the words and emotion of the announcer to understand what's happening. It requires the announcer to amp things up more, to share more, to paint a fuller picture all on their own, not having any visual aids.

A TV announcer does have those visual aids. The fan can see what's happening for themselves, interpret the moment themselves. They're inherently less reliant on the announcer to paint the picture for them, because they can see the picture. So the announcer doesn't have to always amp things up or oversell a moment, because the fan can see it unfolding with their own eyes. Buck can let this moment speak for itself, whereas Albert has to speak for it. So inherently, Albert's volume is going to be turned up a little more.

Very good points. But nonetheless, Joe Buck is still awful.

Yeah but joe buck can be somewhere in the middle between that terrible call and what Gus Johnson would do.

Agreed. Not a Buck fan. But was worth pointing out the important distinction between radio and TV calls, which is why you often hear radio calls be more over the top than TV calls.

It's hard to pay attention to a game that's muted. And I never do the radio broadcast for a TV game thing. I assume one is ahead of the other plus TV will show things that radio might not talk about (e.g. showing some graphic). Again, Angel Hernandez's mistakes get corrected by instant replay. Joe Buck just makes things bland for 3+ hours.

Angel hasn’t been a World Series Umpire since 2005 Joe Buck has been ruining the World Series since 1996.

That was a perfect call. Just the right timbre and level of emotion.

Yea, I think a lot of us would have grown to love Buck if the Mets had more success in the playoffs and World Series, instead he has presided mostly over our doom in the worst moments...my dream is to one day own one of those complete WS championship box sets...will have no problem hearing Buck dictate us winning.
