more like the Mets choose to call him up and cut Reyes, but Jeff said helll nooo, we gotta see if we can maximize profit by having a Jose Reyes night before he retires.

how good does McNeil need to be and how bad does Reyes need to be in order to get the FO's attention?

What are you complaining about? They will call him in September! You'll see him plenty!

As far as I know they gain control for six years of major league service time as soon as they call him up. He becomes a minor league free agent if he doesn't get put on the 40-man before end of the season.

Technically, they have until 5 days after the World Series to put him on the 40-man. They don't necessarily need to call him up this year, although he's obviously a prime September callup candidate if he's not already up by then.

I mean, that's fine, but it also means they aren't interested in getting things going. The problem is that the team is seven games under .500 and have an extremely low chance to get back into it. They don't want to make that decision - they never want to give fans an official reason to stop coming to games. So, as with everything Mets related, they are stuck in the middle and that's exactly where they want to be.

BB/K ratio to me is always telling if the guy is ready for the next level.. he controls the strike zone and doesn’t miss a lot... shows he’s too polished for his current level

I haven't seen McNeil since he was a 165 lb. slap hitter... from what I recall he had a sound approach and hitting mechanics.

He just had no bat speed or physical strength.

A .300 hitter who just sprayed the ball around.
