Church to DL

According to John Delcos of The Journal News, the Mets have placed Ryan Church on the DL.  The move comes nearly three weeks after Church suffered a concussion against the Braves on May 21st.

Former Met Geremi Gonzalez dead at age 33

According to the Associated Press, Geremi (spelled Jeremi while he was with the Mets) Gonzalez, who started three games for the Mets in 2006, died on Sunday night after being struck by lightning in his native Venezuela. (Source)
Sad news.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Gonzalez family.

Claudio Vargas starting tomorrow; Castillo to DL?

Adam Rubin of the NY Daily News is reporting that Claudio Vargas will be called up from AAA New Orleans to make the start for the Mets tomorrow against Washington.  It was previously thought that Adam Bostick would get the start.
