Billy Joel to play in Flushing, but it won’t be Shea’s last hurrah
By Dan M. | February 7, 2008
As has been rumored for many months, Billy Joel will play a show at Shea Stadium in 2008, making him the last performer at a stadium which has hosted The Beatles and other legendary acts.
What comes as a surprise is that according to Billboard.com, Joel will not be playing to close out the stadium. Instead, the show will be on July 16th.
The idea of a concert as the final event at Shea was interesting, but I’m sure most fans would prefer the Mets close Shea with a World Series victory, instead.
