Citi Field Update 12/22/07

By Dan M. | December 22, 2007

Staircase inside rotundaHere is the latest Citi Field update.  As always, my pictures can be found on the Refugees forum as well as on Webshots.

Work has been progressing at a rapid pace on the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, where the two staircases leading up to the concourse level have been installed.  The enclosure work continues, as about half of the steel that will form a spiderweb pattern at the top of the rotunda have been installed.  Near the rotunda, the Shea Stadium subway ramp has been completely removed.

BrickworkAlong Roosevelt Avenue, bricklaying has begun on top of the facade, on the exterior of the stair/elevator shaft, and inside the steel tower near the right field entrance.  Also installed are aluminum louvers and windows enclosing the club level.

Installation of precast seating risers for the upper deck continues, with the concrete making its way behind home plate and along the third base line.

At the back of the park, installation of the first level of precast facade is almost complete.  At the left field entrance, an escalator and more precast materials have been installed.  Many more precast pieces are sitting on flatbed trucks waiting to be installed.

Paving the parking lotWork in the parking lot continues, with a new sidewalk installed on the side of Shea opposite from Citi Field.  The new sidewalk, along with all of the sidewalk that will be put in the parking lot, has squares cut out for trees to be planted.  The entire parking lot on that side of Shea is currently being repaved.

Check back in two weeks for the next Citi Field update.  Happy Holidays to all!
