Astros Sign Kaz Matsui
By Doug R. | November 30, 2007
According To The Arlington Heights Daily Herald the Astros have agreed to three year $15 million contract with free agent second baseman Kazuo Matsui.
Kaz made a ton of news when he made the jump from Japan to the US to sign with the Mets and then quickly wore out his welcome in New York.
The Mets dealt Kaz to Colorado where he would eventually gain a starting position and go all the way to the World Series with the Rockies, including a crushing grand slam in the NLDS against the Phillies.
Apparently, the Cubs were fighting hard for Matsui’s services, but ultimately wound up losing out to division rival Houston.
Quite a task Kaz has ahead of him replacing Hall of Fame bound Craig Biggio.
Good luck bro.
